All will be distributed over the holidays on Christmas day morning and January 6th. Please feel free to drop off any gift item anytime during business hours at Villa Verano (next to Villa Las Puertas and Estralla Mar)– 430 Calle Santa Barbara, tel 222-1916 - Our friends Burt and Gerry also donated their Villas to the International Friendship Club home tour charity this week, this was the first time the new Beach Club Villas were open to the public since their recent completion. Great turn out!

Puerto Vallarta has a new GLBT center geared especially toward young gay Mexicans. It is at the corner of Constitucion and Manuel M. Dieguez and offers classes en computers, English lessons, HIV testing and support groups for HIV+ individuals, a library, movies, and more--all free!

rain
It rained all night, and it's still raining. Sunday is usually the best day for the beach, but I guess not this Sunday. The tourists won't be happy, but my employee just brought me fresh tamales from outside the church--perfect for a rainy day.

Well, I have just watched my first group of Fiesta of Guadalupe celebrants pass my house. This one was quite large, led by a large group dressed in traditional Aztec costumes with feathered headresses, etc., followed by a large float with the Virgin of Guadalupe, then celebrants carrying candles, flowers, and baskets of food, then a band (tubas, drums, and all) playing the same song you hear in the video. The song is called "La Guadalupana". From now until Dec. 12 there will be groups representing all the hotels and major businesses in town as well as groups coming from outlying areas. They walk all the way (on my side of town they have to come through the mountains), often many miles. As they approach the cathedral, the church bells begin to ring. The plaza is already full of stalls selling food, handicrafts, etc. from this area. It really is quite pretty.
